What the free edition leaves out

The free edition is genuinely usable, but some team or enterprise features need a paid plan. “Not confirmed” means the official pages we read did not say, so we do not guess.

Best for

Teams that want open-source LLM tracing, prompt management and evaluation with unlimited users and projects, and can run Postgres, ClickHouse, Redis and S3 themselves.

Why choose it over LangSmith

The core is MIT-licensed and self-hostable, and the free edition has unlimited users and projects plus SSO and organization-level access control. Self-hosting is an official, documented option with Kubernetes and cloud-provider guides.

Where it falls short

Self-hosting needs four stateful services plus two app containers, and the compose setup has no high availability, scaling or backups. Audit logs, project-level RBAC, the SCIM and admin APIs and a support SLA are paid Enterprise features. No built-in backup tooling is documented, so you own database backups.
