What the free edition leaves out
Scroll sideways to view all columns →The official pages do not say enough about the free edition to give a verdict. “Not confirmed” means the official pages we read did not say, so we do not guess.

Best for
Software teams that want Scrum and Kanban in one tool and are willing to run a multi-service Docker stack or use Taiga's hosted plans.
Why choose it over Jira
It covers backlog and sprint planning, burndown charts, Kanban with swimlanes and WIP limits, epics, issue tracking and a wiki in one open-source tool, with an API documented at docs.taiga.io. Hosted plans list unlimited users, and the code can be self-hosted under MPL-2.0 (backend) and AGPL-3.0 (frontend).
Where it falls short
Self-hosting runs several containers and needs Docker and reverse-proxy setup. The repositories use two different licenses, so check both if you modify the code. The pricing page lists SLA support only for the sales-led On premise option, and hosted plans are limited by project count and storage.
Open-source alternative to
- Jira — Taiga can be used instead of Jira to plan sprints, keep a backlog and track issues, and it can be self-hosted.
- Trello — Taiga can be used instead of Trello for Kanban boards with swimlanes and work-in-progress limits, in the same tool as backlog and sprint planning.
