Where our information comes from

Guides are written from the service’s own public sources: its official website, its published help centre, the terms of the programme, and the sign-in or entry pages themselves. Where a company publishes a support article that answers a question better than we could, we link to it rather than reword it.

Verifying web addresses

The most important fact in any guide is the address you are sent to, because that is where you will type a password or a card number. Before publishing we check that the address is the official one, reached from the company’s own site, and served over HTTPS.

We never host a login form, never proxy a sign-in, and never ask readers to enter credentials on Half Mile.

Surveys and gift card balances

For surveys and gift card programmes we describe the operator’s published rules and link to them. We do not run these programmes, cannot enter anyone into them, and cannot check or restore a card balance. Where a programme has an eligibility limit or an end date we try to say so — but the operator’s official rules always govern.

What we will not publish

• Ways around a security control — bypassing two-factor authentication, defeating a lockout, or getting into an account you do not own.
• Methods for gaming a survey or gift card programme.
• Login pages or forms of our own that collect reader credentials.
• Anything presenting us as an official channel of a company we cover.
• Screenshots containing real account numbers or personal details.

Keeping guides current

Services change. Pages move, brands merge, and programmes close. A guide reflects the service as we found it on the date shown on the article. We revisit guides when a reader reports a change, when a service announces one, and during periodic reviews of our most-read pages.

Corrections

If a guide is wrong, we want to fix it. Email contact@hafmile.com with the link and what is wrong. Factual errors are corrected as soon as we can confirm them. A correction that changes the meaning of a guide is noted on the page rather than made silently.

Advertising and independence

Half Mile is funded by advertising. Ad placement has no influence on which guides we write or what they say, and advertisers do not review articles before publication. We are not paid by any service to write about it, and we are not affiliated with the services we cover.
