Half Mile grew out of a simple observation: the services people deal with every day — banks, card issuers, internet providers, survey and gift card programmes — are usually explained worst by the companies running them. The sign-in page moves, the receipt code expires, the gift card balance hides behind a menu, and the official help article assumes you already know where to start.

Every guide here is written to answer the practical questions in order: where the real page is, what it expects from you, how to register from scratch, and what to do when the obvious route fails. Web addresses are checked against the service’s own site before a guide is published, and guides are revisited whenever a reader reports that something has changed.
